Langkawi, in the north of Malaysia in the state of Kedah D.A. and under the south of Thailand stands as the main island while most of the others remain uninhabited.

Being closer to the equator, Langkawi is also closer to the sun, making it feature only two seasons, high and low; the latter has some shower to accompany the sunshine while the former (from November till the end of May) is all about fun in the sun, without the requirement of vaccinations or malaria tablets. The geographical location thus makes it a year round destination, reachable by air as well as by ferry from Penang, Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis and Satun in Thailand. But you do require a good suntan lotion with high factor and after-sun; a mosquito repellant; light cotton garments and a cap or sun-hat.

The bottom-line? Langkawi is just Langkawi and has a very good infra structure for the perfect holiday.
